What you learn

Overview of topics covered in this course

This module dives into configuring and deploying Cisco ASA and FTD firewalls in various modes like routed, transparent, single, multi-context, and multi-instance. It covers firewall capabilities such as NAT, application inspection, policy-based routing, identity firewall, and integration with service modules. You'll explore IOS and IOS XE security features like zone-based firewalling and NAT. It also addresses FMC’s alerting, logging, and reporting capabilities. Topics include deploying Cisco’s NGIPS (inline, passive, and TAP), using advanced NGFW features like SSL inspection, user identity, AVC, and geo-based filtering. You’ll also learn to detect and mitigate attacks (DDoS, spoofing, MITM, botnets), implement clustering and high availability, and enforce routing security. The section concludes with traffic policies, device connectivity, and correlation/remediation using FMC.

Certifications & career paths

Upon passing the CCIE Security lab exam, the candidate is awarded the CCIE Security certification, which is valid for a specific period (typically three years). To maintain the certification, individuals must recertify before the expiration date, often by passing another exam or accumulating continuing education credits.
CCIE Security v6.1 is Cisco's premier expert-level certification for network security professionals. It validates advanced skills in designing, implementing, operating, and troubleshooting complex enterprise security solutions. This certification is highly valued in the industry and opens doors to senior security architect and consultant roles with significantly higher earning potential.
CCIE Security v6.1 includes updated content focusing on cloud security, advanced threat protection, and modern security architectures. It emphasizes software-defined security and integration with cloud platforms while maintaining core security concepts from v6.0.
The exam is an 8-hour hands-on lab exam conducted at Cisco testing centers. It consists of multiple modules including troubleshooting, diagnostic, and configuration tasks. The exam is entirely practical with no multiple-choice questions, testing real-world problem-solving skills.
You can attempt the CCIE Security Lab exam once every 180 days (6 months) if you don't pass. There's no limit on the number of attempts, but proper preparation is crucial due to the time gap between attempts and exam costs.
After completing our training, we guide you through the exam registration process on Cisco's website. You'll need to pass the written exam first (if not already done), then schedule your lab exam at a Cisco testing center. We provide guidance on exam scheduling and preparation timeline.
We conduct multiple timed practice sessions starting from 4-hour segments and building up to full 8-hour mock exams that simulate the actual CCIE Security lab environment. These 8-hour practice sessions help students build stamina, time management techniques, prioritization strategies, and stress management methods. We also teach efficient configuration methods and shortcut techniques.
We teach systematic troubleshooting approaches including the layered model, divide-and-conquer techniques, and Cisco's recommended troubleshooting frameworks. Students learn to use show commands effectively, analyze logs, and implement structured problem-solving methodologies under time pressure.
Yes, we provide a comprehensive support package including 6 months of extended lab access, doubt resolution sessions, and exam retake support if needed. We also offer career guidance and job placement assistance for our CCIE candidates.
CCIE Security certified professionals can pursue roles such as Senior Security Architect, Security Consultant, Network Security Manager, and Principal Security Engineer. The certification typically results in 30-80% salary increases and opens opportunities with top-tier organizations globally.
We offer both classroom and online training options. Our online sessions are live and interactive with full access to remote labs.
We recommend dedicating 15-20 hours per week for self-study and practice labs outside of classroom hours. This includes reviewing class materials, practicing configurations, and working through additional lab scenarios. Consistent daily practice is more effective than weekend cramming sessions.
Yes, our labs are accessible 24/7 including weekends and holidays. Students receive remote access credentials for home practice and can schedule extended lab sessions during off-hours. We also provide weekend doubt-clearing sessions for working professionals.
We maintain a maximum student-to-instructor ratio of 8:1 for hands-on lab sessions and 12:1 for theory sessions. This ensures each student receives adequate individual attention and personalized feedback on their configurations and troubleshooting approaches.
Yes, we organize monthly CCIE meetups, alumni networking events, and industry expert sessions. Students get opportunities to connect with certified CCIEs, participate in technical discussions, and build professional networks within the security community.
We monitor Cisco's exam blueprint updates closely and modify our curriculum accordingly. If significant changes occur during your training, we provide supplementary materials and additional sessions to cover new topics at no extra cost.
We use a comprehensive progress tracking system including weekly assessments, practical lab evaluations, and mock exam scores. Students receive detailed feedback reports highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, with personalized study recommendations.
We offer comprehensive career services including resume optimization, interview preparation, salary negotiation guidance, and connections with our industry partners. Our placement team works with leading organizations actively seeking CCIE Security professionals.
